RESEARCH & VISION

Sea to Sky Botanics is an entirely self-funded and independent company. While venture-backed agtech often prioritizes short-term returns over local realities, we are driven by practical design, community partnerships and collaborative research.

Sea to Sky Botanics is pursuing opportunities for collaborative research with leading Canadian research institutes and non-profit organizations, including the Arctic Institute of North America, the Aurora Research Institute and the Territorial Agrifood Association. Our current goals are to demonstrate our technology in the field while advancing key research objectives using our controlled-environment systems. One primary objective is advancing peat-free growing media—a critical aim that will provide alternatives to peat-bog harvesting, a mainstream practice in the Canadian agricultural industry that disrupts one of Earth’s most vital ecosystems, not only for its role as a carbon sink but also as an essential habitat for wildlife.

Our vision is to develop a national network of partners that can elevate the entire Canadian agricultural industry through collaborative innovation. As we carry out this work, the information and knowledge we gain will be shared throughout the network and with our clients to ensure ongoing success with their commercial operations.
